Rights Respecting School: RRS

In March 2025, we became a Bronze-accredited Rights Respecting school. We are so proud of this achievement and give thanks to our pupils who have led the way in their class charters and pupil forum work, supported by Matt and Lesley.
The UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award supports schools across the UK to embed children’s human rights in their ethos and culture.
The Award recognises achievement in putting the UN Convention on the Right of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s practice to improve wellbeing and help all children and young people realise their potential.
The Award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation - aligning perfectly with our school ethos, vision and values.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is based on an analysis of what children need in order to thrive. These needs are grouped into four categories:
- To survive as a fit and healthy person
- To be protected from harm and abuse
- To develop physically, mentally and socially
- To participate as an active citizen
UNICEF UK's Rights Respecting School award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. Our commitment to developing this as a whole school policy can be seen in the school’s ethos and culture. We aim to ensure that the principles of this are at the heart of our school's practice in order to improve wellbeing and help all children realise their potential.
Next steps
We would like to appoint and train pupils to become and lead as CCS Pupil Ambassador Change Makers, alongside working towards achieving our Silver accreditation.
