Speech & Language Therapy

 Our Speech and Language Therapist works with us 1 day each week. They focus on Universal provision, support advice and guidance as requested. They also provide continuing professional development for our staff. They attend our half-termly parents / carer coffee mornings.

Louise Ryves- Speech & Language Therapist

Louise qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2001 worked for 19 years for the NHS Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Department in Cornwall, before leaving in 2020 to working in independent practice.

"During my time as a speech and language therapist, I have supported children and young people with a wide variety
of speech, language and communication needs including:

  • Speech Sound Disorder, including motor speech difficulties
  • Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and language Disorder/differences associated with other conditions
  • Gestalt Language Processing

  • Social Communication Needs
  • Situational/Selective Mutism
  • Stammering
  • AAC – Augmentative and Alternative Communication
  • Communication needs associated with Learning Disability
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Experience of trauma and attachment

I have supported children and young people with complex needs, both at preschool and school age, and have experience of working in mainstream and specialist education settings and people’s homes.
