Oct 2026: We are now a Silver Rights Respecting school

Next stop: GOLD!

Our journey started upon opening the school in September 2024. In March 2025, we received our Bronze accreditation as a Rights Respecting school.

We are so proud of these achievements and give thanks to our learners who have led the way in their class charters and learner forum work, supported by Laura and Tammy, with Matt and Lesley before them.

The UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award supports schools across the UK to embed children’s human rights in their ethos and culture.

The Award recognises achievement in putting the UN Convention on the Right of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s practice to improve wellbeing and help all children and young people realise their potential.

The Award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation – aligning perfectly with our school ethos, vision and values.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is based on an analysis of what children need in order to thrive. These needs are grouped into four categories:

  • To survive as a fit and healthy person
  • To be protected from harm and abuse
  • To develop physically, mentally and socially
  • To participate as an active citizen

UNICEF UK's Rights Respecting School award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. Our commitment to developing this as a whole school policy can be seen in the school’s ethos and culture. We aim to ensure that the principles of this are at the heart of our school's practice in order to improve wellbeing and help all children realise their potential.

Next steps

We would like to appoint and train pupils to become and lead as CCS Pupil Ambassador Change Makers, alongside working towards achieving our Silver accreditation.
